With the Huzzle Cast Equa by Hanayama, you get an elegant and demanding metal brain teaser at Level 5 – Expert. The puzzle is shaped like a small astronomical model with a planet and a surrounding ring, where the planet is locked tightly inside. At first glance, it seems almost impossible to get it out – but there is a solution.
Inspired by celestial bodies and astronomy
The Cast Equa features the theme “Heaven” and is designed as a small metal model inspired by planetary orbits, rings, and astronomical movements.
The central planet sits inside the ring and can rotate on its own axis. But the question is whether that is truly all it can do – or if a more clever movement is hidden within the construction.
Find the hidden movement
The task is to take the pieces apart and put them back together. This requires you to investigate how the planet and the ring work together, and how small changes in angle and rotation can unlock new movements.
It is not about strength, but about patience, precision, and the ability to think in three dimensions. As with many of Hanayama's best puzzles, the solution seems unlikely at first – until it suddenly makes sense.

The Cast Equa has a difficulty of Level 5 – Expert. This makes it a serious challenge for those who have already tried some easier Huzzle puzzles and would like a model with more resistance.

The Cast Equa was designed by the Dutch puzzle designer Oskar van Deventer and was launched by Hanayama in September 2008.
